Florida State University's Department of Psychology is home to world-class scholars whose research consistently attracts national and international recognition. In addition to excelling in research, the faculty are recognized for excellence in teaching. Students at all levels of training have access to the mentoring and resources they need to achieve distinction in their areas of study.

At the graduate level, the department provides specialized doctoral programs in clinical psychology, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, social psychology and neuroscience. FSU also offers a master’s degree in applied behavior analysis at the university’s Panama City Campus.

The department offers undergraduate majors in psychology and behavioral neuroscience. Both majors are science-based, meaning that the material taught in our classes is based on the findings of carefully conducted scientific research and that students are taught how to apply critical scientific thinking to their work and even personal lives.

The department serves the larger Tallahassee community and the surrounding areas through three affiliated mental health clinics, which also provide research and training opportunities for advanced doctoral students. The department also conducts research through a number of other institutes and centers.
