Research Interests

Child and adolescent psychopathology, emotion regulation, executive functions, irritability, anxiety, mood disorders, transdiagnostic approaches, evidence-based practice.

Current Research

My research focuses on the development and treatment of emotional and behavioral dysregulation in youth. Specifically, I am interested in how neurocognitive processes influence anger regulation and irritability, understanding anger within the context of emotional disorders, identifying bias in the assessment of youth behavior, and cognitive and behavioral interventions.

Lab Description

In the Harmon Youth (Harmony) Lab, our research seeks to gain a deeper understanding of how children experience and manage their emotions. Using a developmental psychopathology approach, we explore the various factors that contribute to emotion dysregulation. Our research uses a range of methods, including multi-informant rating scales, clinical interviews, computer-based tasks, and psychophysiological measures, to assess cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning in children. Our work is transdiagnostic, covering a range of childhood disorders such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other emotional and behavioral problems. As part of our ongoing studies, the Harmony Lab also offer clinical services to children and families. By integrating clinical practice with research, we aim to discover more effective ways to improve treatment for youth. Our lab is part of FSU’s Center for Translational Behavioral Sciences.
