Plant Lab

Research in Dr. Ashby Plant's lab considers issues related to stereotyping and prejudice. Our DIS students are directly involved in conducting research on these topics. To learn more about this research, visit the lab’s website at: http://fsuplantlab.wixsite.com/fsuplantlab

This competitive DIS opportunity offers hands-on experience conducting social psychology research as well as important support to prepare for graduate school.

Required qualifications:

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student at time of participation
  • Taken or enrolled in Social Psychology at time of participation
  • Able to attend Friday lab meetings (1:30-2:30pm EST)
  • Able to commit 9-10 hours per week to the course (on average)
  • Psychology major (minors also considered)

Preferred (but not required) qualifications:

  • Overall GPA of 3.0+ (and/or Psychology GPA of 3.25+)
  • Taken or enrolled in Research Methods at time of participation

Research focuses on prejudice and stereotyping; specific interests include individual differences in the activation and control of prejudice, intergroup interactions, motivation and self-regulation, and the prejudice reduction process.
